PROGRAM

The 29th Annual SWAHAP Medical Education Congress is designed to provide an interactive atmosphere focusing on the medical management in the various areas.

TARGET AUDIENCE

All physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, allied health professions, and other related medical professionals

ACCREDITATION

Physicians:
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Texas Medical Association (TMA) through the joint sponsorship of Sierra Providence Health Network and the Southwest Association of Hispanic American Physicians (SWAHAP). Sierra Providence Health Network is accredited by TMA to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Sierra Providence Health Network designates this educational activity for a maximum of 12.0 American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

* The presentation “Hypoxic Encephalopathy and Brain Death” has been designated by SPHN for one hour of education in medical ethics and/or professional responsibility.

Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending.

Nursing:
Sierra Providence Health Network is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

This activity meets Type 1 criteria for mandatory continuing education requirements toward licensure as established by the Texas Board of Nursing. This activity provides up to 12.5 contact hours for the entire conference.

Attendance will be verified through sign-in rosters at the beginning of each conference day. Nursing participants will be eligible to receive partial contact hour credit. To be eligible for partial contact hour credit the participant must attend a minimum of 1 conference presentation per day and complete the evaluation for those presentations attended. Contact hours will be verified when the evaluation is received. There will be no mailing of certificates.

Any display and/or giving of free advertising materials at this activity by a corporate supporter does not constitute endorsement by the ANCC, TNA, SPHN, or TMA. Any materials not yet approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) should be labeled with the appropriate disclosure statement or a statement should be posted.
